Stoughton Estate (F) near Oadby
This farm is located on the outskirts of Leicester, within easy access to Oadby, Houghton on the Hill and Stoughton. Most of the walks on the farm are through arable land although a riverside walk is also possible. This area is being managed under Natural England’s Higher Level Stewardship Scheme, providing specific management to encourage insect species. The arable options delivered under the scheme also provides habitat for farmland birds.
During the walk along the river, you may be lucky enough to see dragonfly species such as Broad bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa), the 4-spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata) and the Banded Demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens) as well as bird species such as Lapwing, Tree Sparrow, Skylark, Yellowhammer, and a variety of other farmland birds across the farm.
