Country Walk Summary

Dairy House Farm near Altrincham

This linking bridleway offers an alternative off - road hacking route affording views over the surrounding countryside. The route leads through arable farmland that is being managed under the Environmental Stewardship Scheme. The surrounding land holds a variety of farmland birds including corn bunting, tree sparrow, grey partridge, lapwing, curlew, skylark and yellow wagtail. Wild bird seed mixture plots and over-wintered stubbles have been established which will provide these bird species with a much needed winter food source. Other options include skylark plots, conservation headlands, low input spring cereals and managing wet grassland for wading bird species, nectar flower mixture, buffer strips and sensitive hedgerow management which will provide food and nesting habitat for these bird species.
