Country Walk Summary

Newton Hall near Kirkby Lonsdale

This walk provides a link between routes along the River Lune in North Lancashire. It forms a scenic part of the Lune Valley Ramble. The riverside route affords excellent views of the natural features of the river such as shingle islands and banks which mark the changes in its route over recent decades. There are glimpses of the wealth of bird life along the river and one of the fields is being extensively managed under Environmental Stewardship to attract ground nesting birds such as lapwing and snipe.
