Hall Farm near Melton Mowbray

This walk is located on the outskirts of Melton Mowbray and provides linkage to the existing ProW's; from here you can have a choice of destinations from Burton Lazars to Brentingby or Thorpe Arnold. As you walk along the footpath you will see the River Eye Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSi) which was notified as a SSSi due to its naturalness, band side vegatation and white-legged damselfly. The land around you has been entered into the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme which is protecting historical features such as medieval water mile, ridge and furrow earthworks and prehistoric features. The scheme has also been designed to enhance the River Eye SSSI by varying the grazing regime of floodplain meadows; it is also helping to provide feeding and nesting habitats for a variety of waders and farmland birds.
