Country Walk Summary

Crosshill Farm near Ollerton

This site surrounding Laxton Village Cricket Ground provides open access to part of the Motte and Bailey Castle earthworks of Laxton Castle, regarded as the finest example of its type in the County. This open access area includes the eastern defensive circuit of the outer bailey; it is thought that this part of the defences was built during the Medieval period when Laxton was the administrative centre of the Royal Forest of Sherwood.
