Country Walk Summary

ECTON ESTATE Near ECTON

This site contains two contrasting Nene Valley landscapes. The grassland nearest Cogenhoe is typical of the sort of pasture, which was once common throughout the valley. Regular winter flooding maintains the fertility of the land, which is then grazed throughout the summer by cattle. The land to the north of the river has been worked for gravel and is now being managed to improve it''s value for wildlife.

Swimming in the lakes is not allowed. Dogs should be kept on leads.
